Applied Behavior Analysis is frequently associated with autism. For many families, their first encounter with ABA occurs shortly after a child receives an autism diagnosis, and much of the public conversation about behavior analysis takes place within autism services. This association is understandable, but it can create an important misconception: that ABA is a treatment designed specifically for a diagnosis.
